This rare and highly prized variety of black pepper (piper nigrum) is named for the town of Tellicherry on the Malabar Coast of India. Slightly larger and much hotter than regular black pepper, Tellicherry peppercorns are particularly distinguished by an exquisite floral flavour and fragrance. Use as you would regular black pepper – but be aware of an intensity that you may not find suitable for all dishes. Try it freshly cracked on strawberries!
