Black and red Hawaiian salts are both harvested on the island of Molokai and dried at a relatively low temperature to preserve the trace minerals and electrolytes that make up about15% of the salt. Activated charcoal gives this salt its colour and provides anti-toxin and digestive tract benefits. Black Hawaiian salt has a very pleasant softly crunchy texture and a clean, slightly sweet flavour. It is a dramatic finishing salt for seafood, poultry and other light coloured foods.
